Sisters of Charity Hospital, Main & Delavan Streets - Pre-1900

The original Sister's Hospital (for the sick) at Main and Delavan Streets,
Buffalo's first
hospital . It is now the site of the Canisius College Koessler Athletic Center.

Photo of the men's ward. The hospital capacity was 300 patients and was completed
in 1876.

Another ward, possibly young men's. About half the hospital's patients were
charity cases.

The women's ward.

Possiby a private room. A nun is standing before a bed.

Operating theater.

Hospital hallway.

Hospital chapel. The hospital was closed in 1949 when the present Sisters Hospital
was opened at its Main and Humboldt Streets location.
