Niagara Mohawk Block (Eagle, Michigan, Clinton, Elm)

In the 1960's, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation acquired the downtown block seen above in a 1902
Library of Congress photo.

The block under construction, looking from the center of the block toward Eagle Street. In the upper right corner
on Eagle is an 1830's-era rowhouse.

A similar view in 2005, from Eagle Street. The Alling & Cory building is still standing, but the rowhouse and related
structures have been replaced by a parking lot.

The rowhouse is still standing in 1968, after the Niagara Mohawk Power transformer substation was completed.
The street running left to right at bottom, is Michigan Street. Undeveloped land at the bottom of the photo is land that
was cleared for the Ellicott Redevelopent Project.

The white skyscraper at left is the M & T Bank building. The white/glass square building upper right is the Buffalo & Erie
County Library, downtown location. The blue building at the right of the photo was the Hager & Sons Planing Mill, labelled
in the map above.
