Gayety Theater 1917

The Gayety Theater was located at 352 Pearl Street at the north corner of West
Huron. It was built in 1914 by the New York
City firm of William H. McElfatrick for burlesque entertainment. Over the years
it had various owners and went by various names
including The Playhouse, State, Filmarte, and Old Vienna.

It was demolished in 1955. The corner was an Allright Parking Lot until 2003
when the expansion of the Augspurger Parking
Ramp occured. The parking lot and the 4-story
Hurst Building at 47 West Huron were replaced by the parking structure above.
