Robert Averill's painting above shows Commerical Street during the bustling times of the Erie Canal. The grey,
shorter building in the middle of the block is Wheeler's Hotel, whose colorful and important history was
detailed by John H. Conlin in the Winter 2002 issue of Western New York Heritage Magazine
